Quick hair removal that lasts

The Candela laser provides fast results for almost anywhere you have unwanted hair – common problem areas include the face, underarms, bikini, legs and back. How it works: The Candela GentleLASE laser emits light that is absorbed by pigment in hair follicles and converted to heat. The heat then loosens hair and disables cells that cause new growth. Photo rejuvenation: A non-surgical way to turn back time and improve complexion, texture and tone
Akari clients often choose photo rejuvenation treatments to improve their skin’s appearance without invasive surgery or downtime. Many clients see immediate results and also may notice firmer skin around the treated area.
Photo rejuvenation helps reverse skin damage with laser procedures that treat acne, vascular redness, rosacea, brown spots, rough skin, large pores and skin damage – all at the same time.
How it works: As the laser light passes through the skin it is converted to heat and targets pigmented areas that are absorbed back into the blood. Our Candela VBeam and GentleLASE lasers employ different wavelengths that allow doctors to penetrate skin at very specific levels.
Medi Spa physician Dr. Spiros Lazos, who specializes in photo rejuvenation, recommends three to five treatments, scheduled four to six weeks apart. Dr. Lazos also is available for laser hair removal treatments, Botox injections and Pelleve treatments.
Medi Spa physician Dr. Lenny Temkin also uses lasers combined with sclerotherapy – injection of medicine into blood vessels – to treat small, spider and slightly larger, unsightly blood vessels. Dr. Temkin is available for photo rejuvenation, laser hair removal, Botox and injectable fillers, as well as European techniques of facial rejuvenation.
A long-term solution for wrinkles
Wrinkles are a complex problem and a very visible sign of aging: The cells in our body slow down and stop replacing components of our skin and face. Over time, our skin gets thinner, more lax and is draped over less tissue – the effect of letting air out of a balloon. Sculptra Aesthetic helps turn back the hands of time with natural-looking results that last up to two years or longer. This injectable treatment replaces lost collagen and commonly is used to correct facial wrinkles or nasolabial folds, the “parenthesis” lines between your nose and mouth. It also stimulates your body to make its own collagen – and it lasts because it’s yours.
How it works: Sculptra Aesthetic treatments usually are done in three to five sessions scheduled about four to six weeks apart. This gives poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), its main ingredient, time to gradually correct wrinkles and allows your doctor to fine-tune follow-up treatments. PLLA is bio-compatible and has been used cosmetically in Europe since 1999.
Dr. Edward Jaccoma, Akari’s Medi Spa director has more than 25 years of experience in oculo-facial plastic surgery and likens Sculptra Aesthetic to the dissolvable sutures used in plastic eyelid surgery.
“Many of these sutures are made from the same PLLA material, allowing them to dissolve over four to six weeks. Yet, once dissolved, the lift and healing they facilitated continues on because they were replaced with the body’s own healing tissue, creating a permanent bond,” explains Dr. Jaccoma.
“Imagine if these sutures were ground up in a blender into fine particles. Mixed with water they can be injected where you want more tissue. This has a similar effect of facilitating the body’s natural healing process – allowing the body to renew itself.”

Firmer skin without downtime
Pelleve skin-tightening treatments at Akari target wrinkles around your eyes, sagging skin under the chin, nasolabial folds, lines between the eyebrows and other problem areas.
How it works: Pelleve uses radio-frequency technology to heat deep layers of skin without damaging the top layer. Heat from the procedure causes collagen to tighten and creates firmer skin. Pelleve also helps your skin produce new collagen.
Skin tightening from Pelleve, combined with the body’s natural healing, can soften wrinkles and lift sagging areas around eyes, cheeks and jowls. Treatments generally take 45 to 60 minutes and patients experience no downtime. While many clients start to see results after just one treatment, optimal results are produced after three to five treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart.
Pelleve also can be used to firm up other areas, such as the neck and décolletage.
Say no to frown lines
If you’re troubled by frown lines, learn how Botox can make a quick difference in your appearance. The Botox treatment takes only about 10 minutes and most people have no downtime – it’s a perfect lunchtime procedure.
How it works: Botox is a purified protein that relaxes overactive muscles that compress skin and cause excess wrinkles. Over time, it halts the creasing as wrinkles at rest improve from repeated treatments. Our specialists can recommend additional treatments unique to each situation.
Botox generally takes three to five days to begin working and has a maximum benefit by 10 days. Botox lasts three to four months before it gradually wears off. The treatment also can be used to relieve excess sweating (hyperhidrosis), among other cosmetic uses.

Fillers: An instant fix for your face
Many injectable fillers offer immediate results to correct loss of volume and moderate to severe facial wrinkles such as smile lines, marionette lines, jowls or chin wrinkles.
How they work: The fillers are injected under the skin in a quick office procedure that instantly smoothes lines and wrinkles for up to a year. Fillers can be mixed with an anesthetic to make the procedure much more comfortable.
We feature a wide variety of fillers at Akari, and our injectors are experts in products ranging from hyaluronic acid (sugar gel) fillers such as Juvederm Ultra XC, to the calcium-based filler, Radiesse. Radiesse is a volumizing filler that diminishes signs of aging and stimulates production of your own collagen. Many clients find their Radiesse corrections last a year or longer.
Sculptra Aesthetic is a more potent stimulator of your own collagen. The “fill” comes from the activity of your own cells and can last even longer.
Costs can range from a few hundred dollars for small corrections to several thousand dollars for clients who want major corrections without submitting to substantially more expensive facial surgery.

Akari’s Medi Spa offers a wide range of treatments to help you put your best foot forward.
Our advanced laser treatment can banish toenail fungus and has an 88 percent or better effective rate, compared to only 10 percent or less for topical treatments.
How it works: Treatments usually take about 15 minutes. The lasers emit a brief, gentle burst of light to create an environment where fungus can’t survive. Clients generally need two to three treatments, scheduled two to six weeks apart. Lasers also can be used to treat warts.
If you suffer from foot pain, book your complimentary consultation with Medi Spa physician Dr. Christopher Toth, a board-certified foot surgeon. Dr. Toth offers injectable dermal fillers to eliminate causes of foot pain that normally would be treated with surgery.
